Frequently Asked Questions
-
Plastic tubs with lids and sturdy cardboard boxes both work well for storage. If using cardboard boxes, fill them to the top so they don’t collapse—but avoid overfilling, which can cause them to break.
Use smaller boxes for heavy items so they’re easier to move. Stack containers of similar size for stability, placing heavier items on the bottom and lighter ones on top.
Pack books flat to protect their spines, and wrap fragile items in packing paper or bubble wrap. Keep delicate items toward the top of stacks, and seal and label all containers so you can easily find what you need later.
-
Leave some space between stacks and avoid placing items directly against the walls to allow for airflow and reduce moisture buildup. Elevating items on pallets can further improve circulation and help protect against humidity.
Keeping space between stacks also makes it easier to access your belongings later. Cover larger items that don’t fit in boxes—such as couches, dressers, lamps, or mattresses—with plastic sheeting or old sheets to protect them from dust and debris.

Hazardous, flammable, toxic, chemical, explosive, or illegal items are also strictly prohibited.
